Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad and New Zealand’s Michael Bracewell were among the top picks in The Hundred draft on Wednesday (March 12), securing lucrative contracts worth GBP 200,000 each. Noor Ahmad, the left-arm wrist spinner, was snapped up by Manchester Originals, while Bracewell, New Zealand’s newly-appointed T20I captain, was drafted by Southern Brave, last season’s runners-up.
The draft also saw significant signings in both the men’s and women’s competitions. Georgia Voll, fresh from her unbeaten 99 in the Women’s Premier League, was picked by Birmingham Phoenix. Jamie Overton secured a GBP 200,000 deal with London Spirit, who also signed Australian veteran David Warner for GBP 120,000. Warner, who went unsold in last year’s draft, is set to make his Hundred debut this season.
Other notable picks included England all-rounder David Willey, who joined Trent Rockets for GBP 200,000, and New Zealand’s rising star Rachin Ravindra, who was signed by Manchester Originals for GBP 120,000. In the women’s competition, Paige Scholfield re-signed with Oval Invincibles on a GBP 65,000 deal.
Veteran England pacer James Anderson, despite making himself available, went undrafted.
With 66 players drafted across both competitions, the squads are nearly complete. Teams will have one final opportunity to strengthen their rosters through the Wildcard Draft.
The 2025 edition of The Hundred kicks off on August 5, with London Spirit taking on Oval Invincibles at Lord’s.
